Overview
“Project Nari”, an initiative to create awareness among the female workers of a textile factory regarding their feminine health
It is the third year that JCI Dhaka East has initiated a health awareness workshop with the female workers of a readymade garment factory. Through collaborations and engagements with various apparel factories and the business community, JCI Dhaka East aims to build awareness not only among the workers but are working with the management to provide sustainable solution for the healthcare.
Results
Under this project through a series of workshops ad consultation involving medical professionals and working with the top management of the the private sector, Project Nari was able to successfully address the health issue of female factory workers in the apparel sector. Engaging the workers in three factories, we were able to advocate for a better health care plan for these workers and improving their own understanding of their health care problems and challenges by prioritizing their health.
Recommendations
From the workshop and consultations, we could explore the possibility of introducing affordable health care insurance or in house health care facility for the female garment workers.
